Honey Balsamic Glazed Tofu

Honey Balsamic Glazed Tofu is a flavorful and satisfying dish that combines the savory taste of tofu with a sweet and tangy honey-balsamic glaze. It’s a great option for vegetarians and vegans (using maple syrup or agave as a substitute for honey) and can be served as a main dish or as part of a larger meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for extra crispiness)
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. If you prefer crispy tofu, toss the tofu cubes in cornstarch to coat lightly.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and cook, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the honey balsamic mixture over the tofu in the skillet, stirring to coat the tofu evenly.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and glazed the tofu.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired, and serve hot.
